1986 Topps Wax box, BBCE authenticated FASC (From a Sealed Case). These boxes are in decent condition, but there may be small dings visible on the corners or edges. This wax case was sent for authentication by me, and I recently got it back from the kind folks over at BBCE. Each box has been wrapped and authenticated from them as being from a sealed case. You will receive a box similar to the one listed, in comparable condition. The pictures of the case are for reference and show the case where these boxes came out of. 1986 Topps is a bit of a crazy set. It came one year before the complete junk wax explosion of 1987, but did not enjoy huge popularity probably due to the relatively anemic rookie class. Topps put all the hot rookies (Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds, Will Clark, and Bo Jackson) into the Topps Traded set (I have a full case that is verified FASC of these as well that will be listed soon), so the base set was a relative slog with little excitement aside from the standard HoF caliber veterans. That said, 1986 Topps presents an island of huge potential value that Topps sets didn’t see again until decades later. The relative paucity of print run relative to the 1987+ sets coupled with a black border on the top third of the card created an environment where there are relatively few GEM MT examples floating around. Despite the high number of big value GEM MT cards, the price on 1986 is still very affordable. Priced low, these boxes are easily justified rip candidates that will give you a lot of great memories and fun while you go’gem hunting’.
